Case Study — Client 01: Cayden Newsome
Personal trainer, Brits Bros Gym — one client to a paying pipeline in four weeks
The Client
Cayden Newsome is a 21-year-old who wants to build a personal training business around helping people push their limits and achieve something great. His focus is eventually bodybuilding and powerlifting, but he planned to build his foundation first helping people lose weight and bulk up. When we started working together, Cayden had no idea where to begin. He was overwhelmed, didn't know how to start, and had one client — a friend, not a paying one — who trusted him enough to let him help with weight loss. That was it. That was his start.
The Engagement
Week 0 — Introduction: Cayden came in feeling lost, confused, and honestly a little down on himself. He didn't know if he had what it takes. We just talked at first — about what he wanted to build and what was getting in the way. That's when I found out the owner of the gym he trains at had been asking him repeatedly to become an official trainer and get listed on the website. He was on the fence about it but he didn't think he was ready. So I asked him questions about his own fitness background, what he'd accomplished, what he actually knew. By the end of the conversation he said he never really thought it all the way through, and that he had the knowledge and experience to do this. He came in with a desire. He left with confidence in what he already had.
Week 1 — The Start: With clarity established, we moved into problem-solving. What's actually standing in the way? We set goals for the week ahead, built out a pricing structure, mapped a mock client journey, and dug into his identity, why he wants to do this in the first place. Knowing the why determines the how. We left week 1 with clear deliverables and a direction.
Week 2 — Continuation: Cayden came back and we built the backbone of the business. Mission statement, vision statement, core values. We also covered branding, because even though he's currently partnered with a gym, he wants to operate independently one day. Setting that foundation now guides how he trains people and how he scales later. This was also the week we pushed toward actually getting clients. He was tasked with talking to six people and starting the conversation about working together.
Week 3 — Recap: Our fourth meeting, one full month in. We opened with a real progress report — what got done, what didn't, no sugarcoating. Then we planned the month ahead. Two realistic goals, two audacious ones. The audacious goal he came in with was emotionally driven but hard to measure, so we reframed it into something trackable without losing the heart behind it. I closed the session by turning the questions on myself — asking Cayden how he felt about working together and what I could do better. His answers were incredible.
A note: Every session ran 2+ hours. We talked business, but we also talked faith, friendships, and real life. That's not extra, that's the point. Human first isn't just a tagline, it's how every meeting runs.
The Turning Points
Three moments stand out where the proof showed up clearly.
Day one. At the end of our very first session I asked Cayden how he thought it went. He said, “I honestly didn't know what to expect but I was blown away completely. I feel fired up again.” That was before we'd done a single thing — just from being heard and asked the right questions.
The schedule goal. Cayden's biggest bottleneck was his work schedule — he couldn't take clients because he didn't have a consistent routine. Week 0, we set one goal: get a confirmed weekly schedule that doesn't change. He did it. Once that was locked in, availability opened up and clients became possible.
The second client. After the goal-setting in week 2, Cayden scheduled a meeting with someone who told him upfront she was already willing to pay. He went from one unpaid friend to a paying client in the pipeline — in four weeks.
The Outcome
I could keep going about what we worked through together, but honestly Cayden says it better than I can:
“Before working with Diego, I had too many ideas and no clear steps, the dream felt abstract and I was getting in my own head. Working with Diego changed that. He broke everything down into simple, manageable steps and made the whole thing feel real and achievable. What surprised me most was the human side of it, he's not speaking from theory, he's been through the same struggles. That built real trust. I've taken more steps toward my goal in this time than I would have done alone, and I'm more confident now than when I started.”
One Month Later
Two months ago, Cayden had zero paying clients. Today, he has four active clients and three hot leads in the pipeline.
